Well that was a quiet race. Even by Formula E Standards...

I will admit, this Mexico city ePrix wasn’t as entertaining as the others … it just felt like everyone was trying to race a clean race. I don’t normally say this about formula e, and hopefully won’t be saying it again for the rest of the season.

Now to start, Sergio Sette Camara had an issue on the way to the grid, which meant that he unfortunately couldn’t start the race, and made him the first retirement of 4 drivers. ERT had yet another woeful start to the season with no points, and only 1 car in the race to begin with. The race start was clean, with no major incidents. Pascal Wehrlein held a steady lead, with Sebastien Buemi in second place. Then around the 15 lap mark, Robin Frijns had a massive crash on the entry to the Peraltada, and heavily damaged his Envision Racing car. Whether the team are going to have to take a new tub remains unclear, however it was so big, it necessitated a lengthy Full Course Yellow followed by a Safety Car to clear the car and the debris. The maximum speed under full course yellow in accordance with Article  39.1 a)  Is 50kph. Article 39.4 also states “An FCY period may be followed by a Safety Car intervention if the cause of the FCY continues, and safety may be at risk.” This was unfortunately to be the case, as robin was in the middle of the track, and unable to get back to the pits under his own steam. Then Lucas retired also due to mechanical issues, and Antonio crashed and damaged his car. It would later emerge that he and Nico Muller collided, and Antonio had received a 3 place grid drop for the next round in Diriyah in 2 weeks’ time (well just under.)

In terms of the results, it was a mixed bag for me yesterday. Happy cause Seb and Nick got on the podium. Sad cause some of my favourites retired, and Sam, yet again, couldn’t seem to catch a break. But I look at it like this. Its motorsport. Anything can happen. Especially in formula e!!! hopefully the pace of the McLaren, especially now Sam has joined the team, can turn around, and Sam can be fighting for the championship in season 11 or 12. This year though, were gonna have to wait and see.

To be honest, McLaren and all 4 Jaguar Powered Cars are looking really strong this year, however, so are the Porsche powered cars. Like I continuously say; its formula e. anything can happen,. As we saw time and time again last season. I don't normally make my prediction changes until half way through the season, so i'll make a prediction update blog after Monaco, and let you guys know if anything changes :)

Formula e is one of the most unpredictable sports ever, and like I said in my season preview blog, it is going to be so hard to predict who is gonna win the championship this year. If yesterday’s anything to go by, my early predictions are Porsche and Jaguar in the top 3 in the teams.
