Hey guys
Little 8 week gap post from me explaining what ive been doing between Jeddah and Miami.
Well, if you’ve been living under a rock, last weekend I went to see Oliver Heldens live at the O2 Academy in Brixton. I’ll go in to more details as to why in a minute, however, he is legit the tallest, sweetest, nicest person I have ever met, and one of the best in the game at the present moment .
He was amazing from start to finish, and he even noticed my sign (eeeeee) I hand drew for him. He pointed at it, then at me. At first I wasn’t sure if he was looking or not, so when he confirmed it with a love heart when I did one to him, I almost passed out!!! I said to mum “HE SAW THE SIGN!!!” and honestly almost cried too. This is partly why I LOVE!!! Oliver, and why I will continue to do so until he retires, or stops making music.
He put together an awesome 2 hour set with loads of new IDs and loads of classics, also including some of his old HI-LO stuff.
One of those songs being a mash up between Kronos, Last night by Loofy, and Last Night A DJ Saved my life.
Now, I don’t know if I have actually come out publicly and said this yet, however during the COVID Lockdowns and restrictions here in the UK, Oliver and Martin Garrix were the two DJs who’s content and livestreams would pull me out of a really bad mental health snap, or gave me the pick me up I needed when I got off the phone to mum, who at the time, was living in Ireland with my great grandparents. I still can’t comprehend that last weekend actually happened, and yeah .
Another song he dropped was the Notion remix of The Days by Chrystal. I said to mum in the queue, as we had got there super early to guarantee barrier which we got!!! “If he plays this song tonight, I will not be apologising for the person I will become, and I will literally lose my s***”. So when it eventually mixed in, I just danced like no one was watching. That’s who I am at raves. Present and in the moment.
He dropped a few IDs as well. All of them are amazing, and I can’t wait for them to be released, if they get the green light in his A&R meetings in the future.
It’s a blend of the classic Oliver Heldens, with the 2025 twist we all expect from him too.
Then we moved on to some mashups.
In no particular order, and not the full list:
The aforementioned Kronos X Last Night X Last Night A DJ Saved My Life
I was made for lovin you x Take it off
Been waiting ages to hear this one live, and boooooooooy, it sounds as good now, as it did in the Zamna Tulum set at the start of last year. When I tell you I filmed some of it, and jumped around for most of it, I am not lying in the slightest. Just need to finalise my vlog first. And yeah; this one will come with a volume warning!!!! Sorry to anyone with sensitive ears in advance…
Glue x Don’t Stop The Music
ID X Turn me on
It’s that time x Café Del Mar
What a mash up !!!!!!
So you may be wondering, as this is my 2nd concert in 6 months, how do I protect my ears from all the sound damage, having seen Becky hill in October last year?
The answer is Loop Earplugs.
They filter out all the bad sound, and filter other frequencies so it sounds super clear, and doesn’t damage your ears at the same time. Perfect for barrier raves!!! Not an ad, however I thought I’d share, especially if you’re doing festivals, or 6 hour shows this year. You’re welcome in advance!!

Anyway…
When he dropped his Glue x Don’t Stop The Music mash up, the set ended in spectacular fashion.
He then jumped down off the stage, and spent at least ½ an hour with the fans. He jumped off to my right first (his left) so I had to wait for 5 minutes before he got to me, however when he did, I asked him to sign my sign, which he did. I got a bit emotional, so I asked him for a hug too. And he complied. It was a very sweaty hug, but it was a very much needed hug, as I had been so excited all day and all night. Like I said earlier on in this post, this is why I love Oli, and will continue to do so for a long time. He always has time for his fans, whether it be at shows, or online, and this is why I love the dude. We then left the venue, and made our way back to the hotel.
Did I sleep? Not really. Was literally, as I am now, still on cloud 9. And I’ve renamed my fave and Oli’s fave drink [Coke Zero] to Oli Juice ha ha. Fun fact; he always has a can of Coke Zero on stage with him, as he has never been one to drink at all on stage. And you know what? Fair play!!!
Even typing this now, 5 days post event, it still seems so surreal to me that someone as famous as Oliver can be so sweet, humble and down to earth where the fans are involved. To get there and sleep alone cost Mum and I an estimated £300, and that wasn’t including tickets for the event itself. Overall it would have worked out at £366. That’s hotel, train and event tickets. But in the end, it was soooooo worth it!!! One of the best nights of my life. That is for sure. I just don’t know how to put in to words how happy and grateful I am for the whole experience, and the fact that oli is so sweet 😊
The entire night was awesome, and to end this blog I do have a few thank yous:
Oli and the entire Heldeep team,
You absolutely smashed it last weekend. Like I said on Oli’s Instagram last night, I’ve been waiting 10 years for this to happen, and I bloody loved every second. Thank you for an amazing night, and front and centre really is the place to be. Ik hou van jou Oliver. Come back soon!!! We’ll be more than ready!! \o/. And whoever does Oli’s visuals, please give them a raise!!!
Mum,
WE DID ITTTTT!!!!!!!!! [Lando Norris style] We finally saw Oliver live. Was it worth the money? You bet it was. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to be with me at the barrier last weekend. We embraced each other when we needed to, we laughed when we needed to, and I for one had an amazing night with you. Thank you for being not only the perfect Gym buddy, but the perfect rave buddy too 😊. And one more thing. Thanks for the foyer hug when we needed a moment. I still can’t believe I own an authentic OH signature. And had a sweaty hug too!!! Love you to the moon and back.
And finally
The O2 Academy Brixton Venue Staff and Promoters.
What a venue!!
Thank you not only for an awesome night, but for also making sure that everyone was safe, secure and not too drunk. When people get too rowdy around me, it makes me feel unsafe at times, so knowing that there was the extra layer of security there, made me feel a lot better. I couldn’t have thought of a better DJ than Oliver to see, in such an iconic venue, so thank you for giving his fans the opportunity to rave with him in to the early hours in such an amazing venue. At first, I was in awe at the building with it being Grade 2 Listed (if I remember correctly), and it was one of the most amazing nights of my life. So thank you all for making sure everyone remained safe.
So Yeah!!!
