Pre shanghai post berlin.

Hey guys.

Its time!!! For the first time post covid, formula e is making its triumphant return to China, but before I post my pre-race blog and  predictions, I have an apology to make.

The eagle eyed readers will notice there was no Berlin round up posted last week. And for that, I can only apologise. I saw Take that in Birmingham, and they were honestly amazing. The best gig for me since one direction in 2015!! And that was 9 years ago. And the blog was forgotten in all that… so yeah. I’ll add some photos down below in a second. But, if you want to see anyone, go, and see take that.

Thanks mum for most of these, as some of the ones of my phone wont load on my computer...

Anyway, all isn’t lost, as I thought I’d kill two metaphorical birds with one stone today, and give you a very brief Berlin round up, and then go in to my shanghai pre-race predictions.

Race 1:

11/05

FP1

Reminder of weekend driver swaps:

Driver Swaps:

Bird → Barnard

Buemi → Aron

De Vries → King

Frijns → Eriksson

Mueller → [Kelvin] Van Der Linde

Yellow flag due to pascal stopping 26 minutes to go

Turned in to a red flag; car couldn’t get restarted, was a red car;

This, in effect, means that the car is still electrically "live" and could have the risk of a massive electric shock occurring  if the recovery crews don’t put rubber matting down to get to the steering wheel to make sure everything has been disconnected, and if required, extrication can be safely performed.

The car ended up having to get towed back to the pits, the same way as Sette Camara's car in Misano.

FP2

All cars out on green

Pascal got out this morning which is great to see.

Porsche had to completely rebuild the car from scratch to get to the bottom of the technical issue, however they fixed it in time for the session.

Session got red flagged; debris was on the track. Was an extremely quick turnaround by fe standards.

The advertising hoardings came loose

The fe batteries are biiiiiiig units

Eriksson clipped the wall exit of t9; debris then got pulled on to the track.

Sergio hit Stoff?

Don’t know how that didn’t end up becoming a massive crash. Possible impediment?

Stoffel's duels times were deleted due to a minimum weight breach; he started the ePrix P8; the breach wasn’t until the duels.

Race:

Another awesome race from Taylor; finished P8 overall. Wonderkid very much comes to mind there 😊

DAC finally gets his win!!! Was a very well deserved one too. After his DQ In Misano, I couldn’t have thought of a more worthy winner.

Now we have got that out of the way, on to this weekend.

This weekend, marks the first ePrix in 5 years in China, as the last ePrix was in Sanya pre COVID, in 2019. I’m excited for this as China has produced some pretty exciting racing, and some pretty exciting results.  Attack mode this weekend will be at turn 2, and the amount of laps will be 29.

Prediction wise, I think Jaguar have been looking really strong all season, especially on Nick’s side of the garage so I think Nick will be on the podium. Top step? I wouldn’t rule him out, however I think Porsche and Oliver Rowland are also looking really strong this season. But McLaren are too… the bottom line of formula e, is never rule anyone out until the fat lady sings. Cause you will, most likely, be amazed by the result.

I'm gonna try something new today, and leave a timetable of scheduled proceedings, and also the ways to watch in the UK.

Love you guys

Sorry about the delay in post Berlin…
