Hey Guys!! Formula e is officially back!! Got some very good talking points about a very hectic fp1 session. FP2 starts in just over half an hour so HAPPY RACE DAY !!!
· The Race article just before FP1, rumoured that ABT are parting ways with Mahindra at the end of next season and are looking for other powertrain options.
Lucas did confirm this in an interview, and I agree that CUPRA would be an awesome powertrain supplier in the Gen3EVO era.
Whilst I am not surprised at this, hopefully this means that ABT will start being more competitive from Season 12 and beyond.
· Start to session was delayed by 15 minutes due to an unknown reason as of 22:23 12/01
The reason wasn’t announced on stream, so I still don’t know why FP1 was delayed, but by formula e standards, it was a pretty hectic session!!!
· Sam bird had a small software issue at the start of the session, however this got fixed and he got some track time
Luckily, I don’t think this was too major, as the car was running fine when Sam was out on track. He finished in the bottom 10 in the session; however this was due to him having little running in the session.
· Guenther stopped on track due to suspension damage when he clipped the wall at the exit of the Peraltada (last corner).
This was the first of 2 red flags in the session; I’m genuinely surprised at how max kept that from being a bigger collision!!! Luckily, I think he only got away with minor suspension damage, and nothing driveshaft related.
· Feels so nice having fe back
Missed having my favourite sport on tv to watch. It’s so nice having formula r back to watch
· Session was extended by 12 minutes, due to Max’s excursions
Glad they extended it too, as it would t have been fair otherwise.
· Sam and laney sounded like they never stopped working together lol
When I tell you the banter and radio chit chat sounds felt jjust like when they were together at envision J
· Nicks wing got damaged, so he had to pit for a new one
· Sergio sette camara officially got the first fine of season 10. €1800 for speeding in the pitlane
· Nato also got a €1000 fine for overpower
· Cassidy, Evans, and Vandoorne will all drop 1 place for the race later on today, due to not respecting red flag procedures, and not stopping the car in the garage.
· Session ended early due to hughes going fastest, but then the car just not stopping.
McLaren confirmed after FP1 that Jake needed to take a new cell, as the car was unfortunately damaged beyond repair. It’s a shame when you hear things like this, however its imperative for the drivers safety that if the cell needs changing, its done.
·
I’ll quote sam and laney, as sam was in the garage at the time jake crashed due to needing to chat with Laney about some things
“Jakes in the wall”
“Ok red flag. Popped up session will not be resumed, but now it’s gone away again”
· The session did in fact not resume and Jake did finish fastest. Having seen the state of the tecpro, I could very well see why too.
Im just glad Jake walked away from it safe and ok.
