Hey Guys!!!
Happy Race week !!!!
This weekend, were heading to a formula e staple. Yes that’s right!! Pack your bags, cause it’s time to head to the Tempelhof!!!
Last year, Jaguar achieved their first 1,2 in the history of the team in race 1, with Mitch Evans winning the event, and Sam Bird coming second. Max Guenther rounded off the first race podium in P3. The second race was won by Nick Cassidy, his first win of 4 in season 9, his other 3 being Portland, Race 2 in London, and Monaco. He was joined on the podium by Jake Dennis, and Jean Eric Vergne.
This year, the track has a modified layout, with the back straight shorter than last year, and the attack mode moved from turn 4, to turn 2. The day after the ePrix, will be the rookie test. A full day of testing for drivers who may have never experienced Formula e Machinery before, or have only had development roles in the simulator.

There are also a few forced driver changes this weekend, as unfortunately, Berlin clashes with the WEC Spa 6 Hours. It was a clash that formula e were looking to avoid, however with the compact calendar, they unfortunately couldn’t. Also, McLaren confirmed last week that Sam will unfortunately be missing out this weekend, due to not being fully fit for the event. Taylor, after a super sub in Monaco, will be filling in, once again. Envision are left without both of their drivers this weekend, with Frijns and Buemi both missing out due to WEC clashes along with Nico Mueller, and Nyck De Vries. This owing to their driver fulfilments needing to be fully with WEC on WEC race weekends.
So, to summarise, and give a list of replacement drivers:
Bird → Barnard
Due to Sam’s wrist injury deeming him unfit for this weekend.
Buemi → Aron
De Vries → King
Frijns → Eriksson
Mueller → [Kelvin] Van Der Linde
The rest of the listed drivers will miss Berlin due to the WEC clash with Spa.
I am really hoping Sam will be fit to drive soon, as the paddock isn’t the same without him. However, I know Taylor is going to do an amazing job for McLaren as he drove superbly well in Monaco last time out, and with only 20 minutes notice too. Wonderkid comes to mind there. Sam is in berlin this weekend in a driver mentor role with Taylor, and I’m excited to see what they both can do working together.
Rookie wise, I’m really looking forward to see how Aron does, having watched his rookie season and a half in F2; he is looking superbly pacy, and in the car that won the teams championship last year, I’m not expecting much, but a finish would be a bonus.
Also, with the new track layout, I’m curious to know how the layout will work overtaking wise; will the overtakes be plentiful, or sparse? Will the track action be classic Berlin, or the peloton style of racing that fe has been very used to seeing recently? Guess were going to have to wait and see. Either way, I’m looking forward to this weekend, as Berlin is one of my favourite tracks on the calendar. London and Diriyah being the other 2.
So yeah 😊. Uk peeps, ill leave the coverage details down below. Everyone else, it is the How to watch section on the formula e website you will need.
