Diriyah FP2, Quali 1 and Race 1 in 1 blog? here you go :)

Race Day 1 round up :

FP2

Final Classification

Jaguar, during FP2, continued their investigation in to Seb abrupt stopping in FP1 yesterday, and as a precaution, ended up changing Nick’s Battery. I think that that was the only part that needed changing however, as Jaguar were pretty confident that Nick was able to run with no issues. This would turn out to be the case, as nick put in pretty rapid laps during the session, and today as a whole.

Most cars were out on green, as they always are during a practise session. In formula e, track time is always imperative, and the less time you get, the less chances you have of making the duels. Track time is also important to learn the track in real life, as there is only so much you can achieve on a simulator to try and make it as realistic as you possibly can.

Loved Andre on comms today. He was an invaluable addition to the comms box, and I hope that Formula e can try to make it permanent, as Andre is also FE Alumni, and knows his stuff.

The traffic in both groups to be quite honest got a bit excessive for my liking. Yes I know people and teams want the optimum window to set lap times, however to be backing up the pack to the point where cars could stall, and on more than one occasion, I think this needs to be policed more by the FIA before something serious happens, and someone gets seriously hurt. However I am not the FIA. So that’s my opinion and my opinion only. Anyway. On to the duels and who did what.

And then on to the final

JEV Vs Mitch. The gap was yoyoing all the way through the lap, even at every mini sector. This is the most unpredictable duel to predict, and I couldn’t predict who was going to take the pole.

JEV eventually took pole, but it could have been either of them if I'm being completely transparent and honest with you guys.

Then time for the race.

Attack Mode this year stayed at the same corner, which was T19, and provided to be a critical point of the race for some people. It was a very clean start from the majority of the grid, however Sacha Fenestraz had contact with someone, and had to retire due to broken suspension; the only retirement of the race. Sam Bird had one of his trademark starts gaining 3 places off the line, and gained the driver of progress award, as his 4th place finish was a 5 place gainer from where he started.  Eyes forward made its grand return today as well. if you don’t know. Eyes forward is Laney’s signature catchphrase, and it is one of the easiest phrases to recognise in the fe world. Jake Dennis won in, arguably, one of formula e s biggest winning margins. Thew second biggest to be precise.

Jake won from JEV and Nick rounded off the podium in third place. His second podium for Jaguar in as many races. That, in my opinion, shows how strong nick can be, and how strong the Jaguar package is looking this year.
