Hey guys
Apologies for not typing for ages. Its been a busy couple of months to say the least!!
What have I been doing?
Well…
If you know me, you know I am a massive fan of an improv comedy group called Shoot from the Hip.
When I got my most recent job, my grandma said I could go and see them in London at the Underbelly boulevard in September, as it was a day trip, and no overnight stay would be required. Little did I know, that would then lead to a 3 day stay in London for two shows 4 weeks after with Megan my sister. Honestly, the boys are phenomenal live, and a pleasure to meet, especially Tom. He has so much time for the fans, but to be honest they all do 😊. Also before I continue, get a Tom hug or two, you’ll honestly thank me later for them!!! The way he embraces you is just so nice. At Top Secret Comedy Club, I did almost end up crying on his shoulder. Happy tears of course. If you’ve seen my Instagram post, you’ll know why.
I just don’t know how to describe the way the boys do their performances that brings me so much joy, laughter to the point where I have no voice left (yes that did happen at the Underbelly show on the 6th September and lets say, work was very interesting the day after!!), and just generally being my sunshine when times got hard. In a way, I’m glad they popped up on my Instagram reels as a recommended reel in April, as that was how I discovered them 😊. For those who don’t know, my Great Grandma unfortunately passed away on the 21st of June, and all I ended up watching to take my mind off of it, was the boys. Especially the most recent Longform that they had uploaded, which then, I think, was Never Give Annabelle A Gun, which to this day remains one of my favourite Longforms.
List in order is this:
The sins of the gardener (my first live Longform!!)
The Milkman
Never Give Annabelle A Gun
We Buried the wrong guy
The Lollipop Lady’s revenge
The Screams of the Damned
The Game Of Truth and Tea
Now on to the show recap:
I attended both shows with Megan my younger sister. Saturday’s show was at the Underbelly Boulevard in Soho, and had a guest in Ellie from Hell or High Rollers, the DnD Podcast which Sam guested on as part of an interview the week Roll from the Hip aired for the first time. She absolutely smashed it, and so did the boys as always!!! No longform spoilers here, but Tom made eye contact with me twice as Zombie Tom, and that is all I’m saying. (as a Tom stan, it was possibly the best two minutes of my life 😊), I also think I told him to be careful, as he has a herniated disc in his back somewhere, and the second time, he stood on a chair to try and “get me” . Then after the show, it was time to meet and greet. They took about 15 minutes to get everything that they needed, as they always do, and then Luke was the 1st one I saw, as he crept up behind me. I was legit like “Oh hey Luke. Are Tom and the rest of them on their way?” To which the reply was “yeah they’re en route” then I saw Tom come down and the rest ba AJ (so Sam). Then during my selfie with Tom, AJ thought it would be funny to photobomb my selfie… go check the vid out on instagram :) . Then we had to dash to make the last Elizabeth line train of the night. We made it with about 10 minutes to spare luckily! Honestly though, it was so good.
Then on to Sunday, we didn’t get back to the hotel till around half past 12 after the Underbelly show, as we had luckily caught the last Elizabeth line train with 10 minutes to spare. We had a lie in, and then went to go to McDonald’s on Oxford Street with my friend Flower. The only issue was that the damn self-service kiosks weren’t working, so I had to go to the till and pay there… did order my mozzarella sticks without the salsa dip as I don’t like it, but it always gets placed in the bag, even if I say on my order I want it without the sauce. Anyway… after that, we went to Starbucks to get a drink, and chill out there for a bit, did some sight seeing and then went to the venue. Megan wanted to get there early, and to be honest so did I, so we got there for around 5pm, and started to queue. We saw the boys arrive at the venue, and when tom saw me, he came over for a quick chat, and a fist bump which was both awesome, and exciting at the same time. Then the doors opened and we were in the venue!!! Front row seats too 😊!!! The show, much like underbelly was so good from start to finish, and to see how the lads watch the scenes so meticulously, and think about when and what they will add to a scene was so cool to witness. I also loved the fact that, when a man went to the toilet, tom nicked his jacket and had a mini fashion show with it. The reaction when the man got back from the toilet was absolutely priceless, and got laughs from everyone in the room. Tom said, and I quote: “is this yours?” he even pointed out my merch at the end of the show, and was like “yeah I see you 😊” I made the best decision to start following the boys this year, as the friends I’ve made along the way have been nothing short of amazing. If you read this guys, you know who you are. Thank you for an awesome 2025, and I hope to see some of you in 2026 😊. After the show we all congregated outside on a mild October evening for the meet and greet, which again was nothing short of amazing. Tom gave me a hug again, and finally met his teddy namesake, who is on my lanyard as a stress ball for when I get anxious as I’m not really a big fan of crowded spaces. Especially if I don’t have my headphones for one reason or another. I didn’t want to go home the next day, as much as i didn’t when I came down for underbelly in September, as the boys, as they always do, absolutely smashed it both days. It is always a joy to be in a SFTH audience, and although this is it for 2025, I am definitely planning shows for 2026 and beyond. Tom, if you do end up reading this, thank you for being one awesome human being, and thank you for encouraging people like me to be me in all situations, and not give two fucks what people think!!
The entire weekend was amazing, and I honestly can’t wait to do it all again in Birmingham in March with mum. Yes that’s right!!! They’re finally coming to my neck of the woods!!! Well close to it anyway. I did give tom a show proposal for Burton, but I still need to ask him if the details got passed on to their agent for consideration. Really hoping they’ll at least consider it 😊. Anyway. Just looking back on everything I’ve done this year, SFTH and concerts too, its just made me think how lucky I have been when it comes to stuff like this. Two trips to London, a separate one for Formula e, and three concerts this year as well. Its been a rollercoaster of a journey I'll tell you!!! 😊. Any who. If you follow me on Instagram, I’ve posted my show recaps there, and also I posted the weekend vlog for these shows to YouTube. 2025 SFTH, its been a pleasure!! 😊. See you in 2026 😊
